Spring is on it’s way. Soon we will see little green sprouts and buds. Please bring in at least one short sleeve shirt for their extra clothes bin for warmer days.
This month we will be learning about Dr. Seuss, the wind, seasons, and balloons. We will be going to 20 and then start with 1 again for our numbers this month. We will also be doing St. Patrick’s Day activities. Our numbers are 20,1,2,3; the letters T, U, V and W; all the colors of the rainbow (for St. Patricks day), colors are orange and lavender; and the shapes of the pentagon and hexagon. We will also be going over the concepts of position and direction. As always we will be working on small and large motor coordination, singing, reading together, finger plays and other fun activities.
Special Days:
Friday, March 7th: Pajama Day: Wear your favorite pajamas. Also bring in a favorite Dr. Seuss book to read or DVD of one of his books. If you have the Dr. Seuss book called “The Lorax” please be sure to bring it in. We will be reading as many Dr. Seuss books as possible as we cuddle up with our blankets and pillows.
Sunday, March 9th Daylight Savings: SET CLOCKS FORWARD.
Monday, March 17th St. Patrick’s Day Celebration: Wear Green or get crazy and wear a rainbow of colors (just be sure to have green somewhere). We will be making shamrock cookies on Thursday. Please bring in a green or rainbow snack to share with friends (green apples, pears, kiwi, celery, jello, colored gold fish, Trix Cereal or the like, green juice, etc.) The day will be centered around the color green and a hunt for the Leprechaun “gold” and “shamrocks”.
Things to do together: Take a spring walk and note differences in the trees, grass, etc. Sing songs about spring together (look online there are a lot). Go see the movie “The Lorax” together and read Dr. Seuss books. Show pictures to your child and discuss how they have grown (great subject since we will be talking about how living things grow).
