Happy New Year! I hope this will a good year for all of us. Please make sure your child has snow boots, snow jacket, snow pants (recommended), and snow gloves when there is snow on the ground that way your child will stay dry and warm when we go outside.
This month we will be learning about the letters L-O (lady bug, monkey, nest, octopus) Numbers 1-4; shapes circle, oval, and rectangle; and colors red, brown, and grey. We will be exploring ice and snow in many ways, singing songs, rhymes, poems, winter stories, and so much more. We will also be going over the basics, doing art, and science. We will also discuss Martin Luther King and talking about our dreams.
We will also have a day devoted to reading just because it is good to celebrate literacy and fun. I am calling it Warm Up To Reading Day.
Special Days:
January 1st & 2nd - CLOSED
Friday, January 16th- Warm Up To Reading Day- Bring a favorite book or two to share (please label with your child’s name), wear Pajamas, and bring a favorite animal and blanket to cuddle while listening to stories. Hopefully this will be a cold snowy day perfect for this very event ;). We will also be having a little hot chocolate with snack. Yum!
Things to do with your child- Go to the library and get books about winter, or any of the letter themes, etc. Then cuddle up and read them together. Make snow angels in the snow together or take out your sand toys and play in the snow (a snow castle might be nice). Cook together (use lots of words to describe what is going on). Most of all have fun!
Happy New Year!
