September 2014 Newsletter

Summer weather is on it’s way out. Please bring in warmer extra clothes for cooler days, but keep the cooler clothes for hot days. Our fall school program is starting September 2nd. Please have your child here by 8:15am (if you don’t want your child to miss out) so we can get ready to start our day and welcome our friends at group time which starts at 8:30. If your child gets here after 7:45am please feed your child breakfast before you come so that he/she will not miss out on any activities and we can start our day on time. Most days I will be taking the girls to the bus we leave at 7:25am and I get back about 7:50am. Please drop your child off before or after theses times. On rainy days I will need to take the kids to the bus in the car. I cannot take more then one child in the car since I will have my 2 (Zane arrives at 7am so I can’t take anyone else). Please plan accordingly and let me know if it is a problem at least 24 hours in advance. I will try to make other accomidations to get them to the bus. I am sorry if this will be any inconvenience, but there are not any other options at the moment. This month will be all about getting back on schedule, but still leaving a day or two a week where we can spend the morning at the park while the weather is still warm.

The weekly toddler/preschool themes this month are Apples, Bears, Cows and Dinosaurs. Numbers 1-4 (we will go through 1-10 and start again when we are done); colors will be Red, Brown, Black and Green; and the shape of a Square and Diamond. The concepts of patterns and matching will also be introduced. We will be working on the character traits of being orderly (putting away things away and in the right place), attentive (listening when someone is talking), teachable (following rules), obey (doing things the first time asked) to make learning more enjoyable and instill good habits. Finger plays, songs, fine and large motor activities, cooking, science, art, books, circle time, music, etc. will always be incorporated into the curriculum.

Dates to Remember: September 1st: Labor Day - CLOSED

September 10th: Grandparents Day. We will be sending home cards to send out to grandparents on the 5th. Please text me to let me know how many to make and what your child calls them (Nana, Grandma, Grandpa, Papa, etc.)

September 23rd: Fist day of fall. We will talk about fall and collect fall leaves to make a leaf rubbing (our tradition).

Things to do with your child: Take a nature walk and collect fall leaves, look for their differences and similarities, and talk about the changes that are going on. Bake together. Read a book about what we are learning this month. Work on character traits by making up games.
